The New College Football Season Gripes

As the new college football season gets started today it always brings a lot of things to my mind about he upcoming season. Now any college sport that comes on television is always worth watching but there is always so much drama surrounding this one here. Lets start with the game the other night from the Boise State Oregon game and the end where the Oregon RB hit a Boise State player. Now granted nobody wants to see players get into fights with the opposing teams but come on, suspended him for his whole Senior season is just dumb. What is the NCAA thinking by putting this mans future in that kind of jeopardy just over one punch. The one punch and the season ending suspension following this could have just now cost this young man his whole future to feed his family.
Why don't college football players get paid? Now sure there can be a debate that players should not get paid because they get a free education but come on now lets be real. The players that are the most high profile athletes on the team are not at that certain school for the education they go to the school for one reason EXPOSURE. Schools get Millions of Dollars each year for just going to a bowl game that they can use for the athletic department and for the rest of the school to spread out and use. Are you trying to tell me that the University cant pay players a few hundred per game. Don't even make me start about the word Student Athlete is a pure joke. That word only applies to students that use sports to pay for their degree. Most should be called "Pros in Training" because that is the only reason they are at school for.
How can a team go undefeated the whole year and still not get a chance to play for the national title or at least a share of the title? That is the most confusing and upsetting thing out there. If the team goes 12-0 the entire season and then they get told a 1 loss team gets to go into that bowl game because your schedule was not as strong. That's basically saying that no matter how hard you worked all season it doesn't matter really. The players do not make the schedule they just go out there week in and week out and produce on the field. Now granted college football is great but until some of these things are truly fixed it will never be as great as the real fans would like.
